542 active scientists of the University of Montenegro at the end of 2020 are on the Google Scholar list
The end of 2020 on the Google Scholar List or Google Scholar, marked an increase in more than 120 new names of scientists of the University of Montenegro, and today there are a total of 542 compared to the last month of 2019 when there were 414.
This world search engine registers the recognizability of our scientists by quoting their work in publications of other colleagues, and, during the previous year, the list of scientists at the very top was changed as well.
The first place at the University of Montenegro, with the largest number of citations is prof. Duško Bjelica (11,834), full professor at the Faculty for Sports and Physical Education and President of the Governing Board of the University of Montenegro. He is engaged in research in the field of sports sciences, and is the most cited in the world in the field of sports training.
He is immediately followed by full professor of the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics (PMF), prof. Nataša Raičević (11,611), who has held the first place in terms of citations during the previous two years. Domain of her research is elementary particle physics, and it is the leader of the the University of Montenegro scientific team in one of CERN's leading particle study experiments (CMS) in the Large Hadron Collider.
The growth of the citation of Stevo Popović (9,761 citations), associate professor and dean of the Faculty for Sports and Physical Education on the Google Scholar list is noticeable. He is on the third place. In 2020, he won the plaque of the University of Montenegro for his contribution to the development and promotion of science at the University internationally, for 2020.
When it comes to the first 20 scientists on this list, the most notable is the work of professors from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, with six of them having a total of 32,649 citations, followed by five scientists from the Faculty for Sports and Physical Education with 29,898 citations and six scientists from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering with a total of 25,757 citations.
Professors from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, beside Professor Raičević are: prof. dr Gordana Laštovička Medin (8.045), prof. dr Ivana Pićurić (6,385), prof. dr Vladimir Pešić (3,440), prof. dr Predrag Miranović (1,285) and David Kalaj (1,283).
Professors from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering are: prof. dr Ljubiša Stanković (9,526), prof. dr Igor Đurović (5,194), prof. dr Srdjan Stanković (4,691), prof. dr Irena Orović (2,628), prof. dr Miloš Daković (2,168) and prof. dr Gojko Joksimović (1,550).
Professors from the Faculty for Sports and Physical Education, beside Professor Bjelica and Professor Popović are: Jovan Gardašević (3,916), Bojan Mašanović (2,800), and Ivan Vasiljević, (1,587).
In the first 20 scientists are also: professor Aneta Bošković (2,064), from the Faculty of Medicine, assistant professor Velibor Spalević (1,756) from the Faculty of Philosophy and associate professor Sanja Peković (1,206), from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality.
The increase in citations and the number of scientists on the Google Scholar list is the result of the commitment of the University of Montenegro, which at the end of this year received its strategic framework through the recently adopted Internationalization Strategy of the University of Montenegro for 2021-2026.
The goals of this strategy are aimed at strengthening and development of the University of Montenegro as an internationally recognized and attractive center of knowledge and research.
