Students of the University of Montenegro who won the 15th place at the unofficial University World Chess Championship with the participation of 150 teams, and organized by the Gary Kasparov Foundation, were received today by the University of Montenegro (UoM) delegation led by Rector Prof. Dr. Vladimir Bozovic.

During the meeting, Rector Božović congratulated the chess team for the success achieved under the flag of the University of Montenegro and emphasized that this is an incredible achievement of UoM students.

"This is, as far as I remember at the University, and I think in a broader historical course, absolutely the greatest success achieved by any team of our University at a competitive level. So, it is a world success and if today we can say that we are celebrating something in which UoM is successful and recognized at the world level and at the world results map, then it is the success of our chess team ", said the Rector and added that the University will always provide support and be a partner to our students.

Mitar Đukanović (Faculty of Economics) competed for the UoM team at the Cup as the team leader, while Andrej Šuković (Faculty of Maritime Studies, Kotor), Miloš Pečurica (Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology), Božidar Kisić (Faculty of Economics), Dario were also competitors. Alivodić (Faculty of Science), Vuk Miletić (Faculty of Biotechnology) and Nikolina Koljević (Faculty of Economics) participated along with him.

On the occasion of the mentioned success of the university chess team, and in order to popularize chess at the University, Rector Božović and President of the Chess Federation of Montenegro Jovan Milović signed a Protocol on Cooperation which is an introduction to the program that will enable the affirmation of chess among students and in general.

"We recognized the university as an intellectual support, because chess is an intellectual game in addition to being sport. We thought that this was the right place where we could develop cooperation through the university sport, but also through science and the education system, because we are in the process of implementing chess in the education system ", said the president of SCSC Milović, and expressed satisfaction with the first official cooperation with the University which, as he stated, will help develop university chess.
