Study Program Mechatronics Obtained License, Open for Enrolment in Second Term

The University of Montenegro, after several months of efforts and serious preparation, managed to accredit the Mechatronics study program at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, for which it received approval from the Government of Montenegro. In the second enrollment period for the first year of undergraduate studies, in the academic year 2022/23. 50 places are planned for enrollment in this study program, which will be included in the text of the Competition of the University of Montenegro for the second term.
Rector of the University of Montenegro, Vladimir Božović, PhD said that this is an extremely modern and promising study program that includes various academic disciplines from the STEM spectrum, i.e. the spectrum: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
He expressed his gratitude to the teachers, former and current management of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,Igor Vušanović, PhD and Dean Prof. Radoj Vujadinović, Ph.D., on his great success, and he expressed special gratitude for the support and understanding to the Minister of Education, Miomir Mijo Vojinović, and the Prime Minister, Dritan Abazović, for their understanding and support.
"I strongly recommend that any high school student with an affinity for the natural or technical sciences put this program high on their (university) choice list." The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has excellent staff, equipment, and students are monitored with special attention in all phases of education," Rector Božović recommended.
Dean of the Faculty, Professor Vujadinović, recommends this program to high school students primarily because of the excellent employment conditions in the country and abroad.
"Mechatronics studies have been one of the most popular studies in Europe for many years. Mechatronics engineer is the most sought-after profession in Germany, Austria and a whole range of Western European countries. There is no doubt that this trend will spread to the region of the Western Balkans, including Montenegro. There are no unemployed mechanical engineers or mechatronics engineers in Montenegro. In addition, mechatronics offers excellent opportunities to start your own business. No big investments are needed. It is only necessary to possess specific knowledge, which is acquired during studies, good intuition and a little initiative to create new ideas and new modern products, which the modern world market is constantly looking for", Dean Vujadinović said. Mechatronics engineers, he adds, will primarily seek employment in companies where modern and modern machines are designed, built and maintained, which are unthinkable without a combination of mechanical, electronic and computer components. They are also in demand in other branches of industry, such as the food processing industry, process industry, energy production industry, but also in service activities (transportation, catering, telecommunications, etc.). The head of this study program is prof. Dr. Radoslav Tomović said that mechatronics studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering have been studied in various forms, as basic or master, for ten years. "In the period from 2012 to 2017, interdisciplinary basic studies in mechatronics were already implemented at UMNE, which means that significant experience was gained in teaching, laboratory exercises and other activities in the implementation of such a demanding, interdisciplinary and complex study program. We are one of the first institutions in the region where these studies began. The curricula are constantly changing, modernized and adapted to the needs of the market. The studies are characterized by a well-balanced synergy of theoretical learning, individual work, practical training with modern and well-equipped laboratories. Students study in small groups and individually, with lectures and supervision by highly qualified teachers and associates," Tomović explains. The popularity of these studies and the aroused interest of high school students was also caused by the participation in numerous world competitions in robotics, where students won notable results. The BSc degree in mechatronics engineering obtained at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the UMNE allows students to continue their training in research and science, through masters and doctoral studies, anywhere in the world.
