University of Montenegro and Transilvania University of Brașov rectors meet to strengthen cooperation in the European Higher Education Area

The Rector of the University of Montenegro, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Božović, met today at the UCG Rectorate in Podgorica with the Rector of Transilvania University of Brașov, Prof. Dr. Ioan Vasile Abrudan. The meeting focused on cooperation between the two institutions and the potential for expanding their partnership through new joint projects and academic exchanges.

The collaboration between the University of Montenegro and Transilvania University began in 2012 with a Tempus project in information literacy, later expanding to include engineering and civil engineering projects. Since then, the partnership has been maintained through Erasmus+ mobility agreements, facilitating student and faculty exchanges between the two institutions. These exchanges enhance educational capacities, knowledge sharing, and strengthen academic ties between Montenegro and Romania.

The meeting, which also included the head of the Office for International Cooperation, Ana Dragutinović, provided an opportunity to present the University of Montenegro and its increasing visibility within the European Higher Education Area.

The University of Montenegro, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year under the slogan FuturUM, plays a pivotal role in Montenegros development through science and innovation, with 23 organizational units covering the natural, social, humanistic, and medical sciences, as well as the arts. As a member of the Ulysseus European University and the only representative from an EU candidate country, the University of Montenegro actively contributes to the development of the European Higher Education Area and strengthens international academic cooperation alongside prestigious European universities. The Ulysseus network includes the University of Seville, the University of Genoa, Université Côte d’Azur, the University of Münster, the Technical University of Košice, Management Center Innsbruck, and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences.

Rector Abrudan introduced Transilvania University of Brașov as a leading academic and research institution in Romania, spanning a wide range of disciplines, including natural, technical, social, and humanistic sciences. The university is dedicated to academic mobility and international research programs through the European alliance UNITA.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both rectors expressed satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration and emphasized the strategic importance of further enhancing it, which will further strengthen academic ties between Montenegro and Romania.
