Rector Božović on Ceremony Diploma Award in the Gymnasium of Niksic

Rector of the University of Montenegro, Vladimir Božović, PhD, was an honorary guest at the ceremonial awarding of diplomas to the graduates of the “Stojan Cerović” Gymnasium, recipients of the “Luča” diploma, held at the Nikšić Theatre. He congratulated all the recipients of the “Luča” diploma and emphasized that standing today before the best graduates as a former student of this school is not only an honour but also a deeply personal and emotional experience.

“Despite all the later studies and certain academic titles, the only thing I always proudly and openly emphasize in my biography is that I was a student of the Nikšić Gymnasium and that, in a generation with many exceptional students, I had the privilege—due to a fortunate set of circumstances—to be declared the best. In life, there will be more crossroads, but if you preserve within yourselves the warmth, meaning, and light symbolized by your ‘Luča’ today, you will never lose your way,” Božović said.

The President of the Municipality of Nikšić, Marko Kovačević, presented the awards to the “Luča” diploma recipients from the “Stojan Cerović” Gymnasium. He congratulated them on exceptional achievements they accomplished during their education.

“Together with the University and the Government of Montenegro, we are trying to create such opportunities that after taking this important step in life, you don’t necessarily have to choose other cities—that you can stay here in Nikšić in the period ahead. That, of course, depends on your interests and available study programs. What the history of our city has taught us is that whoever comes to Nikšić becomes a Nikšićan, but likewise, whoever leaves Nikšić—remains a Nikšićan. Whatever you choose for your future path, I wish for you to remain Nikšićans, to achieve all your goals and fulfil all your ambitions, but more than anything, I wish for you to be happy people,” Kovačević told the graduates.

The Deputy Director of the “Slobodan Škerović” Gymnasium, Slobodanka Žižić, told the graduates of that school that their love for knowledge should continue to shape their life values and guide them to new heights.

The ceremony also included a rich cultural and entertainment program.
