A commemorative session was held today at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro on the occasion of demise of the esteemed Rector, Mr. Milinko Saranović, PhD, professor emeritus and full professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

At the commemorative session, the Rector of UMNE, Danilo Nikolić, PhD and the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Sasa Mujovic, PhD gave a speech.

Addressing the audience, Rector Nikolić reminded of life and professional achievements of Professor Emeritus, Rector and Academician Milinko Šaranović, who, as the Rector states, is part of the deserving generation that built our higher education.

"It is little known that Professor Šaranović was part of a working group that, in intensive cooperation with the American Committee from Florida State University in Tallahassee, during 1972 and 1973, created a concept for establishment and development of the first university in Montenegro, thus becoming part of the indelible history in merits for development of our University. His personal and professional commitment to development of the University did not stop there, but he gave his full contribution in all those years that followed, as vice-rector, rector, but most importantly in the role of professor who educated generations of young intellectuals who built today's Montenegro", Nikolic said.

Dedication and commitment to noble goals, as stated by the Rector, is a trait that adorns only truly educated people like Professor Saranovic.

"Today, when we remember all the years of work and results of Professor Šaranović, there is so much left that could still be pointed out as an indicator that he sincerely loved his calling and worked diligently for the betterment of all of us. For his scientific contribution, pedagogical work, management skills, he will be forever remembered and be a part of the history of our University. It is our obligation and honor to, with respect and gratitude, remember his character and deeds ", Nikolić concluded.

Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering pointed out the indelible trace of one of founders of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Montenegro.

"When we talk about a man who had the reason to be born, then all the sorrow and suffering passes and only pride remains, the collection of beautiful memories and recollections and great deeds. Is there a greater work than selflessly giving your knowledge, educating generations of young people, building a faculty that is today the pride of the University of Montenegro? Is there a greater work than transforming a modest, stagnant environment into an academic one, giving it the strength to overcome inferiority and become aware of its potential? ” Dean Mujović said.
