Prolonged Deadline for Application for CERN 2020 Summer School

The Ministry of Science publishes deadline prolongation for applying to the Competition ‘Student Summer School CERN 2020’ concluding with January 27th 2020.

for attractive student scholarships in the lading world laboratory – CERN, ‘Student Summer School CERN 2020’
Subject of the Competition
Student summer school CERN is held every year in duration from 8 to 13 weeks during July and August and includes theoretical training, workshops, seminars, exhibitions as well as experimental work.
Subject of this Competition is selection of up to four candidates by the Ministry of Science, out of which CERN will finally select and in cooperation with the Ministry of Science finance candidates with the right to participate in the program „Student Summer School CERN 2020“.
Best Montenegrin students will have the opportunity to be included into everyday work of CERN’s great research teams that conduct interdisciplinary research, attend lectures, and visit CERN laboratories and plants, as well as equipment of this institution, to participate in workshops with scientists who are leaders in their research fields.
The right to apply have students from the following areas:
Physics and
• Engineering sciences, especially from ICT area.
2. Application requirements
Candidate shall meet the following requirements:
- a) Montenegrin Citizenship;
b) Students with bachelor or master degree;
c) Not having so far participation in this or similar schools and programs organized by CERN, or in the previous period has not been engaged in CERN in the period longer than three months;
d) Excellent English Language (minimum B2 level), while French is desirable.
If the candidate expects to obtain bachelor diploma until initiation of the program ‘Student Summer School CERN 2020’ has the right to participate in the competition.
- Financial Frame
The Ministry of Science and CERN shall cover costs of participation of selected candidates as follows:
a) Travel expenses;
b) Accommodation and stay expenses during Student Summer School (90 Swiss Francs per day, or 2700 CHF per month);
4. Candidate Selection and Application Procedure
Interested candidates shall deliver:
- Montenegrin Citizenship certificate (or stamped copy of biometric ID);
• Certificate on Studying with transcript of grades;
• CV – Europass form in English or French;
• Two letters of recommendation in English;
•Cover letter in English;
•Transcript of grades in English; and
•Certificate on English Language Knowledge (and French if applicable).
The Candidate should attempt to have his/her CV and application as detailed as possible to facilitate engagement in project assignments in later phase.
Abovementioned documentation is submitted in printed form to the Ministry of Science, until January 27th 2020 the latest, until 11:00, on the address: the Ministry of Science, Rimski trg 46, 81000 Podgorica (with the note: for the program „Student Summer School CERN 2020“). The Ministry of Science shall form the Commission for Selection of Candidates that will consider delivered applications and determine proposal for the Ministry.
The Ministry of Science shall select up to four candidates. Afterwards, the selected candidates shall register themselves electronically, on official page of CERN until January 31st 2020 and in accordance with the given instructions they shall send the required information. Final selection of candidates shall be conducted by the CERN until the middle of April 2020.
