Life in Timisoara as well as around the world has slowed down considerably. This is where the severity of the pandemic began to emerge on March 11, when all the faculties and other institutions were closed - the story of the Victory of the student of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management in Kotor, Ivanka Simonovic, who has been staying in this Romanian city for two months within Erasmus student exchange programs.

When you live a life that implies freedom of movement from birth, and then the moment comes when you are forbidden, ordered through rules and penalties, though for the sake of your health, you first react with a dose of opposition. Only now do we realize how important everyday things we have lived are of great importance in our lives - understand how little attention you have focused on what, in large part, makes you a human being - says Ivanka Simonovic

Restrictions

- I arrived in Timisoara on February 20th, when second semester at Western University began. Then restrictions were gradually implemented in the city, and state of emergency was declared on March 16th – Simonovic says.

Ever since measures were introduced, she says, there are long queues in pharmacies, banks, telecommunications and other stores in Timisoara.

- Limited number of clients in stores. All catering restaurants has been closed, except some catering services. Public transport works only on certain intervals - in the early morning and afternoon - our interviewee says.

According to Simonovic, the measures are numerous and identical to those introduced by almost all countries.

- Exit is possible with a personal document and proof of the reason for your exit. In shops, it is necessary to use gloves when choosing fruits and vegetables, as well as respecting the distance of two meters in rows. The facilities specify the number of customers staying at the same time. We must not move in groups larger than three people. Curfew runs from 10pm to 6am. Failure to comply with certain measures will result in a fine. The abolition of the state of emergency is scheduled for May 16th, when, hopefully, most things will return to the normal course of events – Simonovic says.
