Grading system of the University of Montenegro

Teaching at UoM has been organized in line with the principles of the Bologna Declaration since 2004 and ECTS system has been in use at our institution since that time. Since 2017 all programmes are organized in accordance with the 3+2+3 model (3 years of bachelor + 2 years of postgraduate + 3 years of doctoral studies) (except for the regulated professions and teacher training).

UoM uses the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). The optimal student workload is 40 hours per week, which corresponds to the sum of 60 ECTS during one study year/ 30 ECTS per semester.

According to the Statute of UoM, and the Higher Education Law, the success of students at exams and other forms of knowledge assessment is assessed in accordance with the ECTS scale of grades: A, B, C, D, E, and F.

The grade F has the meaning fail. The pass grades are A, B, C, D, and E and according to the ECTS they have the following meanings:

  • Grade A (excellent) is equivalent to grade 10 (more or equal to 90 points)
  • Grade B (very good) is equivalent to grade 9 (more or equal to 80 points and  less than 90 points)
  • Grade C (good) is equivalent to grade 8 (more or equal to 70 points and less than 80 points)
  • Grade D (satisfactory) is equivalent to grade 7 (more or equal to 60 points and less than 70 points)

Grade E (sufficient) is equivalent to grade 6 (more or equal to 50 points and less than 60 points)
