Biography - Duborija-Kovačević Nataša

Assoc. Prof. Nataša Duborija-Kovačević was born on October 10, 1973 in Bijelo Polje, Montenegro. Elementary and high school Slobodan Škerović she finished in Podgorica. In 1992/93 schoolyear she enrolled at the School of Medicine University of Belgrade and graduated in July 1999 with an average grade of 9.63 (nine, sixty-three). She was the first enrolled student of the first generation of post-graduate study program in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Belgrade School of Medicine (index number 99-FT-01). Masters degree in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics entitled Analysis of the outpatient use of drugs in Montenegro, under the supervision of Prof. Tomislav Kažić, doyen of Serbian and Yugoslav pharmacology, defended in 2003 at the University of Belgrade School of Medicine. Doctoral thesis in Clinical Pharmacology, entitled The pharmacotherapeutic options in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia-experimental and clinical approach under the supervision of Prof. Zdenko Tomic defended in December 2008 at the Medical Faculty in Novi Sad. Since January 2000 she has been employed at the Medical Faculty of the University of Montenegro as an associate, and since September 2009 as an Assistant Professor and Head of Department of Pharmacology with Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacology, at all study programs of the Faculty of Medicine which teach these subjects (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, high school of nursing). She has been a member of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Medicine since 2004. In January 2015, according to the decision of the Senate of the University of Montenegro, she was elected to the position of associate professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacology at the study programs of Medicine and Dentistry. She has published numerous papers in international and national scientific and professional journals, several book chapters and monographs, she was a lecturer at many national and international congresses, symposia and seminars. She is the editor in chief of the book The formulations of medicines with recipe that is used by medical and dental students during the practical training in Pharmacology with Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacology. By the age of forty, she was a member of the Center for Young Scientists of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. She was the youngest member of the first established Ethics Committee at the Medical Faculty of the University of Montenegro. She has won several international scholarships and participated in several international, bilateral and national projects, of which the most important are CA 15105 COST ACTION: European Medicines shortages Research Network - addressing supply problems to patients (Medicines shortages), TEMPUS project JEP-40106-2005 "Reform of Curriculum Content to Undergraduate Medical Education at the University of Montenegro, CCNURCA: 544169-TEMPUS-1-2013-1- BE-TEMPUS-JPCR: Competency based Curriculum Reform in Nursing and Caring in Western Balkan Universities, CANU project Young scientists and ethics in the XXI century, GLOBAL PPS, etc.

Successfuly cooperates with Montenegrin Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (CALIMS) since its inception as an external expert for the assessment of pharmaco-toxicological documentation in the process of marketing authorization of a drug, and then as a member of the Commission for marketing authorization for a medicinal product. She is a member of several committees and working groups at the Ministry of Health of Montenegro. The most important are National Interdisciplinary Commission for Antibiotic Resistance Control, Working Group for the Regulation on the criteria for placing or removal of  the drug from the List of drugs, the Commission for the placing of medicines to the List and so on.

She is a member of the European Association of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (EACPT), Serbian Pharmacological Society and Association of Physicians of Montenegro.

She speaks English and lives in Podgorica. She is married and has two children.
