The University of Montenegro is launching a new masters program in "Gender Studies"

At todays meeting of the Managing Board of the University of Montenegro, chaired by Prof. Dr. Rajka Glušica, the report on the establishment of the academic masters program "Gender Studies" within the Center for Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies was adopted.

The aim of this new program is not only to enrich the academic offerings but also to enhance the overall educational system by equipping students to actively participate in promoting gender equality. The program will provide students with an understanding of the concept of gender equality, theories of gender, gender stereotypes, and similar topics, which should contribute to the development of critical thinking and awareness in this field.

The report highlights the goals of the academic masters program "Gender Studies," which align with its interdisciplinary profile and are based on international and national research and documents in the field of gender studies and gender equality, as well as strategic documents of the University of Montenegro. It also emphasizes the lack of experts in this field in the job market, which represents a major obstacle in achieving all national and international goals related to gender equality.

The report covers all necessary elements: the structure of the study program, objectives and learning outcomes, job market perspectives, practical significance and needs for the study program, admission policy, curriculum, financing and infrastructure resources, methods of instruction, quality control, and similar aspects. The program content is comparable to similar masters programs at universities in the region.

The Senate of the University of Montenegro previously unanimously endorsed the report, with a positive assessment from the Center for Quality Enhancement.

The decision to adopt the report will be forwarded for further approval to the Government of Montenegro.
