Doctor of Biotechnical Sciences in the field of soil and water conservation (2011, University of Belgrade). On several occasions (34) attended international professional training courses in the field of biotechnical sciences, environmental protection and project management. The most important training courses were (by alphabetical order) in Austria (BOKU), Belgium (EC), Greece (EC), Israel (CINADCO), Iran (Tarbiat Modares University), and Italy (UN FAO). As a fellow of the first generation of the Young Scientists Fellowship Program of the Nobel Prize laureate Norman Borlaug, trained at the Cornell University (USA) under the mentorship of Harold van Es, who was the president of the Soil Science Society of America.

Working at the University of Montenegro since 1995. In the period 2001-2013 as a Senior Task Manager managed the projects of the European Commission for Montenegro and Serbia (105 international projects), and worked as a director of the UN IFAD International Fund for Agricultural Development to Montenegro (2016-2018). In 2014 promoted at the University of Belgrade as a Research Associate (naucni saradnik); In 2018, elected as assistant professor (docent) at the University of Montenegro, and in 2020, associate professor (vanredni profesor) at the University of Business Academy in Novi Sad (Serbia).

Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Agriculture and Forestry" (University of Montenegro) for the Volumes 51-59 (2005-2013); Managing editor and one of the founders of the "AgroFor International Journal" (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Editorial Board member of the Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry (SCI, Q1); One of the Scientific Editors of the Notulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca (SCI, Q3); Co-Editor of the Central European Journal of Geography and Sustainable Development (CEJGSD).

A member of numerous international scientific associations, and scientific committees of international conferences. President of the Young Scientists Forum of the World Association of Soil and Water Conservation (WASWAC) for the period 2020-2022, and a member of the European Geosciences Union (EGU); Elected Committee Chairman of the EGU SSS8 Committee: Soil, Environment and Ecosystem Interactions (2019-2020; 2020-2021; 2021-2022). A member of the Committee for Agriculture and Forestry of the Montenegrin Academy of Science and Arts (MASA); a member of the Engineering Academy of Serbia. Member of the Scientific Board of the Senate of the University of Montenegro (2019-2021).

Member of the evaluation committees of the postgraduate studies at the University of Zagreb, Architecture, Croatia (Landscapes); Ferrara University, Department of Physics and Earth Sciences, Italy (Bedload yield); Abdelmalek Essaadi University, Geology, Morocco (Soil Erosion Modelling); University of Belgrade, Forestry (Soil Erosion Modelling). Initiator and President of the Scientific Committee of the GEA (Geo Eco-Eco Agro) International Conference (2018, 2020, 2021).

In 2018 awarded at the University of Montenegro for the achieved results and special contributions in the development of scientific research work and international positioning of the University (Faculty of Philosophy). At the 16th International Education Fair "Signposts", which was held in Novi Sad (Serbia) in March 2021, the Commission for Quality Assessment of Educational Institutions awarded Dr Velibor Spalevic with a diploma with special recognition for the development of higher education. In 2021 again awarded at the University of Montenegro for the achieved results and special contributions to the development of scientific research work and international positioning of the University (Biotechnical faculty).
