Glossary for Freshmen

The academic calendar, which is adopted and published by the Senate, and is available on the website of the University of Montenegro (www.ucg.ac.me), determines beginning of the study year and semester, organization and implementation of study programs and terms, no later than two months before classes.

 

The Bologna Declaration is foundation of the Bologna process of creating a common European Higher Education Area, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness and quality of European higher education in relation to other developed countries.The Bologna Declaration is a joint declaration of the European Ministers of Education, signed in Bologna on September 19, 1999, by which the ministers committed themselves to the reform of the higher education system. Montenegro joined the Bologna Process at the Ministerial Conference in Berlin in 2003, and a new Law on Higher Education was adopted the same year.

 

ECTS is a European credit transfer system. One ECTS credit refers to 30 hours of student work required for one or more of the following activities: contact teaching, learning, practical work, preparation and defense of individual papers, taking colloquia and exams.

 

The European Higher Education Area includes higher education institutions of the signatory countries of the Joint Declaration of European Ministers of Higher Education in Bologna (1999).

 

The study program is a basic unit for the classification of higher education with a defined structure and number of ECTS credits that provides an individual with the learning outcomes needed to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies for higher education defined in the national framework of qualifications and diplomas. The scope of the study program conducted in one academic year is 60 (ECTS) credits.

 

Diploma Supplement is a public document that is attached to a diploma of a higher education institution for a more detailed insight into the level, nature, content, system and rules of study and the results achieved during the studies of the person to whom the diploma was issued, based on the basic model for a single European Higher Education Area. A student takes the exam in the premises of the institution, unless it is an exam of a study subject whose character requires it, immediately after the end of classes in that subject. The subject teacher is obliged to acquaint the students in the first class with the way of taking the exam (in written form, orally and practically) and the terms for its holding. Based on all pre-examination forms of knowledge testing, i.e. learning outcomes and taking the exam, the student can achieve a maximum of 100 points.

Code of Ethics - a document that regulates moral and professional principles that must be adhered to by academic and other staff and students, in order to preserve and improve the dignity and reputation of the University of Montenegro, according to its mission, and in proceedings for violation of these principles. The document can be found on the UCG website, under the Regulations section.

 

Elective modules represent a related group of subjects that students opt for, usually in the last semester of undergraduate studies. Undergraduate programs contain at least two elective modules.

 

Colloquia are a control form of knowledge testing.

 

Curriculum is the name for a precise and comprehensive curriculum taught by professors in a given subject, with clearly defined goals, tasks, content, organization, methods, strategy and learning outcomes. Grading - Each student has his / her own work card in which the subject teacher enters the results of the student's work and knowledge during the course. After the end of classes and exams, the teacher determines the total number of points won and forms the final grade for each student. The teacher enters the total number of points won and the final grade in the joint list of students, which he submits to the vice dean in charge of teaching and student issues of the organizational unit. Grades verified by the Council of the organizational unit, i.e. the Senate, are entered in the student's record card. The success of students in the exam and other forms of knowledge testing is expressed in letters, namely: A, B, C, D, E and F. Letter grades are equivalent to numerical grades, as follows:A - (excellent) is equivalent to a grade of 10;B - (very good) is equivalent to grade 9;C - (good) is equivalent to grade 8;D - (satisfies) is equivalent to grade 7;E - (sufficient) is equivalent to grade 6.A grade of F is an insufficient grade.

 

Rules for studying undergraduate studies is a document, available on the University website, which regulates the organization and conduct of undergraduate studies, duration of studies, student progress during studies, evaluation of student work, issuance of diplomas and other documents on studies, as well as other issues of importance. for undergraduate studies at the University of Montenegro.

 

The average point grade during the studies is determined as the quotient of the sum of the products of the numerical grade and ECTS credits for each subject and the total number of acquired ECTS credits. The final grade on the exam, with a maximum of 100 points, is determined according to the following scale: Grade A: more than or equal to 90 pointsGrade B: more than or equal to 80 points and less than 90 pointsGrade C: greater than or equal to 70 points and less than 80 pointsGrade D: greater than or equal to 60 points and less than 70 pointsGrade E: greater than or equal to 50 points and less than 60 pointsGrade F: less than 50 points
