Third Regional Competition for Short Story-Bieber Opened

Biber team in cooperation with the Center for Nonviolent Action Sarajevo- Belgrade has opened third regional competition for short story – Bieber. They invite all authors who write in Albanian, Macedonian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, and Croatian or Serbian Language to send their stories. The invitation is related to affirmed authors as well as to those who haven’t published anything yet.

Minimum twenty elected stories will be published in a multilingual collection paper.


The Competition is open until June 10th, 2019.

 

The first two Bieber competitions were on the topic of reconciliation, but this time the topic is extended. In addition to stories that have thematic reconciliation in the context of legacy of wars and violence in ex-Yugoslavia, the competition also take into consideration stories that may contribute to a better understanding among people, reduction of hatred and degradation of prejudice, antiwar stories, stories that focus on dealing with the past, degradation of pictures of our enemies, compassion with others, courageous stories that dare to walk in ‘enemy’s‘ shoes, stories that move boundaries and open new ways so to build more secure, safer and more future greater liberation for all.

The Commission consists of Lelja Kalamujic, Rumena Buzarovska and Shkelzen Maliqi.

The commission will select three stories that will win the prize and their decision will be announced by the end of October 2019.

Aim of the competition is to contribute to culture of translation and publication of neighbor authors and to support engaged authors to continue having an influence on a social change.
