BIOGRAPHY

PERSONAL DATA: Born on June 6th 1961 in Kotor, Montenegro

EDUCATIONAL DATA:

Graduated from elementary school and high school in Kotor with highest grades.

Enrolled at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Belgrade, 1979/80.

During the studies, he was awarded several times by the University as the student of the year, and at the end of the studies as the student of the generation (GPA 8.85).

Defended his thesis on the subject: "Revitalization of the Bizanti palace in Kotor" with a highest grade (10) in 1985.

Enrolled in postgraduate studies "Protection, revitalization and study of architectural heritage" at the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade, academic year 1987/88.

Defended the master thesis entitled "Analysis, systematization and valorization of historical documentation on the development and architecture of the fortification of Kotor until the beginning of the 20th century" in 1999.

Defended the doctoral dissertation "Fortification architecture of Bay of Kotor from the XV to the end of the XVIII th century" at the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade in 2005.

Completed the specialization "Architectural Conservation" at the International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property - ICCROM in Rome, from February to June 1990.

Used the Fulbright Scholarship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA, for staying and finishing postdoctoral studies, from February to November 2007, where he was teaching and conducting research.

 

DATA ON WORKING PLACES AND SELECTIONS OF VOCATION:

Employed at the Municipal Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Kotor in December 1985. After the expiration of his internship, he passed the professional exam at the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Cetinje and obtained the title of architectural conservator, (1986), and then the title of Senior Conservator and Conservator Advisor (1999).

Worked as director of the Regional Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Kotor, from 1999 to 2004 and as a scientific advisor from 2004 to 2007 (since moving to the University in 2006 under the contract on additional work for 1/3 working hours).

During his work at the Institute he participated in several seminars, conferences and scientific gatherings in the country and abroad, among others organized by the European University Cultural Heritage Center (CUEBS) - Ravelo, GETTY Conservation Institute (USA), Tuscany region - Florence, Council of Europe, UNESCO and wrote several published and unpublished professional and scientific papers. He has worked on numerous and diverse activities in various fields of preservation, revitalization and study of the architectural heritage.

Engaged in the establishment of a study program of architecture, academic year 2002/03 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Montenegro.

Selected as Assistant of the University of Montenegro for the subject History of Architecture from January 23rd 2004 by the decision of the Scientific-teaching Council of the University of Montenegro no. 01/110.

Started working at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Montenegro from March 1st  2004 for an indefinite period of one third of his working hours.

Engaged in teaching in the History of architecture I and II and Reconstruction and revitalization From December 22nd  2005, academic year 2005/06, based on the Decision of the Senate of the University of Montenegro, number 01-3887.

Appointed as Assistant Professor for Architecture I, II, III, IV, City History, Reconstruction and Revitalization and Architectural Synthesis at the study program of Architecture, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Podgorica, from June 1st  2006, based on the Decision of the Senate of the University of Montenegro.

Established a full-time employment relationship at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Montenegro from September 1st 2006 and then at the Faculty of Architecture from October 1st 2006, based on the aforementioned Decision of the Senate of the University of Montenegro on the appointment to the Assistant Professor.

Selected as an Associate Professor for subjects History of Architecture I, History of Architecture II, and History of Architecture III, Protection and Revitalization of the Architectural Heritage and Synthesis Project VI at the Faculty of Architecture in Podgorica from September 29th 2011, based on the Decision of the Senate of the University of Montenegro.

Selected as a full-time professor in the field of ​​History of Architecture and Protection of Cultural Heritage, for subjects History of Architecture I, History of Architecture II, History of Architecture III, Protection and Revitalization of the Architectural Heritage and Synthesis Project VI at the Faculty of Architecture in Podgorica from January 12th 2017, based on the Decision of the Senate of the University of Montenegro No. 03-78.

Lectured on the subject Introduction to Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Montenegro in Podgorica, academic years 2012/13 and 2013/14.

Lectured on the History of Art and Culture at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality of the University of Montenegro in Kotor, academic year 2014/15.

Served as the Vice-Dean for International Cooperation of the Faculty of Architecture from 2010 to 2015, as a member of the Committee of Natural and Technical Sciences of the Senate of the University of Montenegro from 2009 to 2012 and as a member of the Senate of the University of Montenegro from 2013 to 2016.

Currently serving as a Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Montenegro.

Fluent in spoken and written English and Italian.
