Agreement on Montenegros participation in the European Union program "Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) has been signed

The Government of Montenegro has signed an agreement with the European Commission which enables all public and private institutions, institutions of higher education, non-governmental organizations, institutions of civil society, etc. to participate in the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values program - CERV 2021-2027.
The Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) program was launched in 2021 with a duration of seven years until 2027, and was created together with the Justice 2021-2027 program within the Justice, Rights and Values Fund.
The CERV program seeks to support and develop open, legally regulated, democratic, equal and inclusive societies based on the rule of law. This includes a vibrant and empowered civil society, which encourages peoples democratic, civic and social participation and nurtures the rich diversity of European society, built on our shared values, history and memory.
The CERV program has four pillars:
1. Equality, rights and gender equality - promoting rights, non-discrimination, equality (including gender equality) and promoting the introduction of gender issues and non-discrimination;
2. Engagement and participation of citizens - promoting engagement of citizens and participation in the democratic life of the Union, exchanges between citizens of different member states and raising awareness of common European history;
3. Daphne – for the fight against violence, including gender-based violence and violence against children;
4. Union values - protection and promotion of Union values.
Civil society organizations active at the local, regional, national and transnational levels, as well as other interested parties, can apply for funding from the CERV for initiatives aimed at citizen engagement, equality for all and the protection and promotion of EU rights and values.
In accordance with the above, the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights has appointed the contact person for CERV, the head of the Department for European Integration, Programming and Implementation of EU Funds, Ms. Irena Varagić: irena.varagic@mmp.gov.me.
