FUNK Workshop: Science is not a Bogyman – Children as Researchers

As part of the Festival of Arts, Science and Culture – FUNK 2025, within the program section FUNK Workshops, a workshop titled “Science Is Not Bogyman: Children as Researchers” will be held on October 18 at 9:00 a.m. at the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro, as part of the international conference PASTECHL Podgorica 2025.

The workshop will bring together more than 30 students aged 11 to 14, who, with mentorship of teachers and scientists, will prepare and present research papers in the fields of sports science and health.

The event will be organized following the model of a real scientific session within the international conference PASTECHL Podgorica 2025 – participants will present their papers, answer questions from the audience, and engage in discussions with scientists. The workshop is open to parents, the media, and the general public, and will be streamed online and potentially broadcast on a Montenegrin cable television channel.

The project coordinator is Stevo Popović, PhD, from the University of Montenegro, and the project team also includes teachers Dr. Novica Gardašević, Mr. Blažo Jabučanin, and Bojana Miranović, as well as the director of PASTECHL, Mr. Miodrag Zarubica.

“The aim of this project is to bring science closer to children in an interactive and engaging way, fostering their research spirit, critical thinking, and interest in scientific work,” the organizers stated.

PASTECHL has been organizing international scientific and educational events for years, and this year’s conference in Podgorica, as part of FUNK, will gather numerous local and international experts, with special attention given to encouraging youth participation in science and innovation.
